SURFACING IS NOW COMING TO MONTREAL THIS OCTOBER
Barbara Cole’s newest series and exhibition Surfacing came to Los Angeles based Art Angels Gallery, followed by an exhibition of the complete series in September (ongoing now) at Bau-Xi Photo in Toronto. Cole teamed up with a few amazing organizations to help further their initiatives as they relate to her body of work. Learn more here. This month (September 8th - 14th, 2019), stands as World Suicide Prevention month, inviting everyone everywhere to recognize the role we can all play in its prevention. Every 40 seconds, a life is taken by suicide. In creating "Surfacing" and opening the dialogue of mental health awareness, I have worked throughout the year (and my life!) to demonstrate how prevalent mental illness is throughout the world, and how, together, we can break the stigma associated with mental illness. There are so many accessible resources worldwide that also work to help those who suffer silently (link in bio to see a few). "Surfacing" opens this Thursday, September 12th at @bauxigallery with a special conversation with Anna Maria Tremonti on the importance of survival.
