Hand Coloured - 1986
It was the early eighties and I was completely enthralled with the work of such luminary female photographers as Imogen Cunningham, Deborah Turbeville and Sarah Moon. On sabbatical from my the newspaper, where I had worked for ten years as fashion editor and photographer, I seized this opportunity to create what I had hoped would be my first solo exhibition. It was an intense and exciting time involving all the hopes and dreams of a fledgling artist. Carrying my 35mm camera, flash equipment and a portable generator I embarked on a personal journey. Listening to my heart I created semi-autobiographical vignettes. These pictures tell tales. Some are sad, some are funny and more than a few are strange.
